..BUSY AS A BEE-- OR A CICADA :0)
Sorry. It's been a bit of time since I checked in. At some point in time I SWEAR I'm getting a laptop so I can work away from the office! I'll especially need one before Europe, eh?
This whole Cicada thing is amazing! I remember as a kid in Columbus hearing them in the summer-time, but we weren't in the 17 Year Cicada Belt, so it wasn't quite as noisy. As many of you know, I've got a partial hearing loss in my right ear (pay attention! you kids with the boomboxes and those using those special high-output earphones!). With the early years of jammin' hard on the stereo and far too much time with headphones on- both in-studio and just jammin' to everything from Chicago to Tull, Beatles to.......
The Carpenters... HA! I wanted to see if you were paying attention :O)
Anyway, the output level of these little buggers when they're hitting full-stride is like the time I was in front of the "mains" at the 1st World Series of Rock at Cleveland Stadium in 1975! There was this new band that not too many folks had heard of. I'll tell you when they started in on their new hit-single "Train Kept A Rollin' All Night Long..." my ears were screamin' for mercy!
OK, enough about the Cicadas (someone PLEASE tell the local media the same thing!)
Today I was in Lexington Kentucky meeting the GREAT folks at Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Facility. Starting June 17 I'll be going there once a week to work on some songwriting stuff with the folks who come in daily for rehab. Special-Needs folks with various physical and psychological challenges. The folks I met today were some of the nicest, and sweetest people I've ever met... truly a gift from God!
The demo stuff going to my producer in Nashville is almost done... since I'm doing my demos here in my home studio I'm dealing with scheduling crunch thanks to the aformentioned Cicadas...
Well, it's off to do some recording...
Hope to see y'all soon...
Keep in touch!
Peace!
Dave
