WE ENCROACH ON NATURE...
Well, there have been a few "circle of life" moments these past few days. The man who was once quoted as saying, "...trees cause air pollution..." passed on to the next world. This morning I startled a fawn in my back yard as I was cutting the grass. God only knows if I would have given this "young buck" a heart attack if I was still using my exhaust-spewing power mower! Ah, but the old reel-type push mower does have its downfalls. Since it doesn't make the loud roaring sound and vibrate the hell out of the ground below it, I was unable to forewarn a couple of cicadas in the throws of passion (whatever "passion" is to a cicada) alas, one lost its wings and the other was... well, I won't go into gorey details. Suffice to say I put the one onto a branch with apologies and the other was put out of its misery.
This past Saturday was a really fun and rewarding day for me. It was the culmination of the "Kid to Kid" project. A bunch of kids from different sides of "the tracks" got together over the course of the last few months and, with seniors from the same areas, put on a show. I wrote a song with the kids and they performed it... "...red, yellow, black and white. It's (the world) a beautiful place!" Just one of my favorite lines from the song. My youngest daughter Maura was down for a visit. She was able to join the K2K kids in the final song during the show, as well as being an excellent roadie :O)
Maura and I also started work on another of our famous Dad/Daughter songs. "Dreams and Wonder..." I've been doing some polishing and hopefully we'll have a completed song within a week!
Recording days are getting closer! I hope y'all are looking forward to Manchester Mornings as much as I am!
Hope to see you soon!
Keep in touch.
Peace!
Dave
