Sunday May 22- Looking back on the weekend
Welll, wasn't THIS an interesting juxtaposition of gigs....
Friday Night- I performed with Peg back at the Dubliner in Cinci. There are a regular group of folks who seem to turn up whenever I'm in town... it keeps me on my toes; "Hey! Didn't you tell that joke last time?!" :O)
Because quite a few "faithfuls" were there I ran the set a bit longer than the normal contracted time. It's no problem and I'd probably play all-night if folks wanted me to and the bar didn't close. The challenge here was that I had to be on the road to Columbus Ohio by 8am... So, it's to bed at 3AM and up and out the door at 8AM...
what's that old addage "you can sleep when you're dead.... "
SATURDAY Daytime-
So yesterday morning I'm off to Columbus for a REALLY IMPORTANT show... it's my granddaughter Kaylee's 6th birthday party! It was loads of fun, and the kids were great! There are two things to be said though...
1) Thank GOD for Tylenol
2) Whoever it was that invented those little trumpet-shaped whistles should be SHOT!!! 20 kids all with their little whistles blowinb at the same time!!!!! (see #1)
SATURDAY NIGHT-
I think Southgate House has become my new-favorite place! I played a 10PM gig there in Junie's Lounge. Sharon and Junie are GREAT! I had a really good crowd there, and lots of folks who'd never heard my stuff before. Although a bit smokey, the neat thing about Southgate is- IT'S A MUSIC VENUE! People come in BECAUSE there is music there... I think what this area lacks is more Southgate House-type venues! Thanks, Ross for being there!
Keep in touch!
Peace!
